Not an eventful day that I can recall, I was scheduled for resource at a Secondary school. As I am writing this post months later I am having trouble remembering what happened that day. I feel like I may have been reassigned to teach another subject and it may have been the day I taught science but not sure. Sometimes it's okay to have a day that does not stand out!

This dispatch was morning only as I had meetings at the LTA for the afternoon. I was in for a middle school teacher and covering math, socials and PE. I found the students wandered in and out of the class often and in my opinion, had too much freedom. I've noticed this school has many classes where students wander in and out of hallways so it was not a surprise. Another observation is the classroom lighting has gone to the extreme of too dim and I feel like it is not conducive for learning.
Today I was scheduled to teach marketing, entrepreneurship and coding but the morning was a bit frantic as a science teacher had to leave last minute so they were going to reassign me to that class. In the end the science teacher returned and I was able to continue with the original plan. Students worked independently in all classes and I am floored by the work they can do on a computer. The coding activities are truly amazing and beyond my skills on a computer.
My assignment today was teaching/supporting ELL students in Secondary. I did push in support for a few classes and ran a support block for another portion of the day. Interesting to see students learning English and using the driver's test as a way to practice and learn vocabulary. One ELL teacher also spoke Spanish and it was evident to see the value in having a second language to support students learning English.
A half day in Kindergarten will be great, she thought. My goodness, the kids today were full of beans! Thank goodness for SEAs. It was wonderful to have a dance to get the day started with the entire school. It's blue Monday today but you would never guess it in this class. I taught this class in September and can see the growth in students.
Teaching at Langley Secondary today and I'm in a science class!!!! I actually got to teach science 9, chemistry 11 and chemistry 12. I have missed it and at this moment in time, will look for a science position for next year. A few weeks ago I thought I would go back to resource but now I'm not sure.
The Science 9 was fantastic and I could teach it no problem. Chemistry 11 was easy enough to recall but Chemistry 12 has been a long time and I have some gaps. I was still able to help students with redox but needed to double check my work. I taught Math and Careers at RE Mountain today and it was wonderful to actually teach a lesson to students. So often teachers leave a work period for students because they don't know if they will get a teacher who can teach the subject material, or a teacher at all. The careers class was starting their final projects and worked independently meeting the goal of choosing a career and post-secondary institution for their projects. I had a prep first block where I was assigned to resource however my help was not needed. I was able to review my new courses which felt like a great use of my time.
A nice way to end the calendar year at HD Stafford Middle school as a resource teacher. I was able to help students with their reading and math and ended the day in theatre class basically just watching the students perform their skits. What a great day.
Returning to Walnut Grove Secondary today to teach industrial education. Students worked on their various projects and were able to paint and cut and sand, etc. There were some challenging students in the first class that were difficult to manage. Fortunately the rest of the day went smoothly and I heard from admin and other teachers that the group I had was a tough one, so at least it wasn't me!
Kindergarten today at Parkside Centennial Elementary. Cute little ones that would all of a sudden attach themselves to me. At one point when I was reading to one student I had another one crawling onto my lap wanting to be read to as well. Gym was cancelled so we had to pivot and change up the plan for the day. There were a number of students away and I can't imagine a full K class. They require a lot of energy from me!
